Short summary

In TAXI we meet the people who leave home in search of a better life and end up driving taxis in Montreal.

Long summary

Inside a taxi school in Montreal we follow a group of recently arrived immigrants as they negotiate the contours of their new lives. Unable to find employment in their field of expertise, they must adapt in order to survive. As with the majority of immigrants who come to Canada each year, they had to pass a gruelling selection process – proving their qualifications and academic degrees – only to realize, once here, they must start from scratch. A taxi driver’s licence offers these immigrants a way to make money but it also brings with it a tough set of challenges, not the least of which is passing the initial test. While dealing with the study or the hostile city streets and family responsibilities, they put into perspective today, the hopes and dreams they had in restarting their lives in Quebec.

A touching journey about crossing boundaries, realities and dreams. You will never look at your taxi driver the same way again.
