Born in Quebec City, Nicole Giguère
co-founded the Video Femmes collective in 1975. For ten years she
directed a number of films and videos with this group, including
social documentaries, short fictions and music videos. Based in
Montreal since 1986, she works as an independent film and television
director. Among her latest productions: Enough is Enough
(National Film Board production about young people and media violence),
One-way ticket to Sirius (feature documentary about the
story behind the Order of the Solar Temple, Gémeaux Award
for Best Auteur Documentary 1997), The
Age to be (documentary on the longevity revolution), Barbie
la Vénus de vinyle (for the 40th anniversay of the famous
doll), musicographies (Nanette Workman, Diane Dufresne, Michel Rivard,
Félix Leclerc), Québec en ondes (history
of Quebec radio). Her latest film Alice au pays des gros nez
(Alice in big nozes’ land) deals with adoption of girls from
China.
